Adeline "Addy" M. Scherer

July 8, 1935 — October 4, 2024

Adeline Scherer, “Addy”, age 89, formerly of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Friday October 4, 2024 at Brewster Village in Appleton.

Mom was born on July 8, 1935 in Shawano County, daughter of the late Emil & Helen (Williams) Schultz. A graduate of Hilbert High School class of 1953, she married her high school sweetheart Don Scherer on April 12, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. Mom and Dad farmed, and while Dad also worked for Foremost Foods in Appleton, Mom tackled the challenge of raising eight children. Mom made delicious pies, mastering the art of the perfect homemade pie crust. Christmas was never complete without dozens of homemade sugar cookies, frosted and decorated by the entire D-Gang, under Mom's watchful eye. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling together; perhaps because they had eight children(!) They traveled to Branson so frequently we thought they were moonlighting as tour guides. They went on many long driving trips across the country, visiting family and friends. They enjoyed sheepshead and cribbage together, and Mom played cribbage frequently at Brewster Village. Mom had a tender heart and no visitor would leave without her familiar “I Love You”. If the reply was “I Love You More”, she would smile, gently shake her head, and respond “no”. All of Mom's visitors learned there was no point in arguing.

Mom is survived by six of her eight children:  Dan (Lynn), Dennis (Lisa), Dawn (Mike) Haley, Diane (Steve) Turk, Dave (Maria), daughter-in-law Carla, and Daryl (special friend, Connie), grandchildren: Andrew, Matt (fiancé’ Chandler), Sandy, Crystal, Jon (Whitney), Jacob (Jessica) Turk, Shane Turk, Stephen (Kate) Turk, Heather (George) Hopfensperger, Zach (Sally) Haen, Alec, Bryant (Danielle), Erin (special friend Yeeshua), Mara, Seth (Hope), Hailey, Noah, and Hunter; great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Jace, Teagan, Parker, Hudson, Rosalyn, Lilliana, Dylan, Boston, Eberlee, Raelynn, Eva, Emma, and Ezekiel and further survived by siblings Mike Schultz and Donna “Dee” Otto.

Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don, her parents Emil and Helen Schultz, Don's parents Peter and Caroline; sons Donny and Doug; grandson Nick; siblings Unice Nickel, Lila Pohlman, Eva Pohlman, Eleanor Redman, Marvin Schultz, Lee Schultz, and Esther Kempen; and by Don's sister and brother- in law, Delores and Harold Thiel.

A celebration of life and visitation will be held at the Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Visitation will conclude with a prayer service.
