Agnes "Aggie" M. (Schmitz) Berenz, age 98, of New Holstein, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein with family at her side. She was born April 13, 1923, near Johnsburg to Leo B. & Alvina (Diedrich) Schmitz. Aggie attended and graduated from St. John's Catholic Grade School in Johnsburg. On April 8, 1947, she married Marvin Berenz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Marvin preceded her in death on July 4, 1989. Aggie's first job was helping her father make cheese at his cheese factory located near Wolf Lake. She later on worked at Fond du Lac Tent & Awning and Wigwam Glove Factory in Fond du Lac. In 1956, Aggie started working at Tecumseh Engine Products; where she was employed for 28 years. After retiring, she volunteered for over 20+ years at the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein. Aggie was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. She served on various positions with the Christian Women's Society; serving as president for 20 years. She was a 25 year member of Catholic Financial Life and a member of International Associated Machinists Retiree Card Club. Aggie bowled for many years with the local senior citizens league. Survivors include her four children, Pat (Paul) Taylor of Queen Creek, AZ, Sharon deCoster of New Holstein, Allan Berenz of New Holstein, and Audrey (Larry) Dietz of New Holstein; her daughter-in-law, Anne (Mahlberg) Berenz of Sheboygan; her four grandchildren, Ryan, Mindy, Christian, and Ross; nine great-grandchildren, Henry, Lucas, Lauren, Harper, Makenna, Camden, Delaney, Reegan, and Brayden; two sisters, Leona Stephany of Mount Calvary and Gertrude Merten of Johnsburg; and numerous nieces & nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Leo & Alvina Schmitz; her husband, Marvin; her son, Daniel Berenz; a great-grandson, Logan; a son-in-law, Jef deCoster; her two brothers and a sister, Clarence Schmitz, Irene Schneider, and Patrick Schmitz. A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Aggie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Marvin, in the parish cemetery.
