Obituary

Agnes B. Bittner, age 103, formerly of St. Cloud, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. The former Agnes Sippel was born September 19, 1909, in the Town of Forest, to the late Joseph & Mathilda (Langen) Sippel. On November 10, 1936, she married Ben Bittner; he preceded her in death on December 20, 1982. Agnes was a member of St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church, the Christian Women's Society, and the St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a former Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts and volunteered many years with the Holyland area Red Cross Blood Drives. Agnes enjoyed many years of quilting with her friends at Villa Loretta. Agnes was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed. Survivors include her four children, Ron Bittner of Winter Park, FL, Dan (Cathy) Bittner of Green Bay, Mary (Fred) Borchardt of Appleton, and Larry (Denise) Bittner of Oshkosh; 12 grandchildren, Ron Jr., Jeff, Randy, Nathan, Dan Jr., Ellen, Jane, Angela, Jonathan, Valerie, Ben, and Sam; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Victor Sippel of Mount Calvary; two sisters-in-law, Antonia Sippel & Rose Sippel both of Mount Calvary. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph (Mathilda) Sippel; her husband, Ben Bittner; a granddaughter, Allison; two sisters, Emma (Alfred Sr.) Diedrich and Marie (Frank) Abler; seven brothers, Bernard (Dorothy), Julius (Marge), Leander (Hortense), Leo, Carl (Marian), Joseph (Clara Mae), and Francis Sippel; and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Sippel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church, 924 Main Street in St. Cloud. Rev. Larry Abler OFM Cap. will officiate. Agnes will be laid to rest in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Tuesday from 10:30AM until 1:30PM when brief rites will be held. The St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a brief service at 11:00AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Memorial Fund will be established in Agnes' name.
