Obituary

Alfred H. Lautenschlaeger, age 87, of New Holstein, passed away at his home with his family at his side on July 1, 2026.

He was born November 9, 1938, in Hilbert to Alfred A. & Myrtle (Kasper) Lautenschlaeger. Alfred graduated from New Holstein High School in 1956.

Alfred served in the Army from 1962 until 1964. On April 3, 1965, he married Kathleen Wink at Zion Evangelical Church in Forest Junction.

Alfred worked for the New Holstein street department for 30+ years until he retired. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein, long serving member on the New Holstein Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the New Holstein American Legion Post 124.

He looked forward to traveling to Northern Wisconsin to his cabin to enjoy fishing on the local lakes, hunting, and to relax in the outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathleen; his three sons, Robert (Lynn) of Middleton, WI, Kenneth of Schaumburg, IL, and Todd (Pam Tina) of Tipton, IN; four grandchildren, Nicole, Grant, Hannah, and Benjamin; his brothers & sisters, Dennis (Ruth) Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein, David Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein, Gary (Kathy) Lautenschlaeger of Fond du Lac, Steven (Wendy) Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein, Delores Ruffing of Hilbert, Barbara (Daniel) Heimerman of Pickerel, Bonnie (Gerry) Bartel of rural Malone, Connie Lautenschlaeger of Manitowoc, and Linda (Ivan) Martinez of Dallas, TX; his sister-in-law, Gloriann Kleinhans of Brillion; his brother-in-law, Roger Wink of Lodi, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfred A. & Myrtle Lautenschlaeger; a brother, Robert; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Ronald & Adele Wink.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1702 Van Buren Street New Holstein, WI 53061.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Alfred's family at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday morning, July 25th from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.

Military Rites conducted by State Military Honors and the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 will take place at the church following the service.

Alfred's family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their wonderful care given to him and compassion shown to our family.
