Obituary

Alice (Sabel) Weber, age 76, formerly of Elkhart Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born on September 21, 1947, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac to the late Alfred and Regina (Krebsbach) Sabel. She grew up on the family farm in the Malone area. Alice was a graduate of New Holstein High School with the class of 1965 and attended classes within the University of Wisconsin system.

On November 18, 1967, she married Edward Weber Jr. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho and together they raised four children. Alice was a loving wife and mother and devoted her life to her family.

Alice dedicated her life to community service and her church. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake and served within their Christian Women's group and as a catechism teacher for many years. She was also a member and former president of the Elkhart Lake Young Women's Club. Alice also enjoyed delivering for Meals on Wheels and volunteering at Rocky Knoll Nursing Home.

Alice served as the varsity softball head coach for Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School for 15+ years and started the fast pitch softball program in the early 1990's. She was recognized multiple times as Coach of the Year for the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. Her commitment to the sport and her players was deeply valued.

In addition to her coaching career, Alice managed Fireman's Park in Elkhart Lake for 15 years. She took great pride in managing the park and keeping it a treasure within Elkhart Lake, and she always looked forward to getting to know the families who came to the beach and seeing them return year after year.

She loved to follow the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers, and she took immense pride in supporting her children and grandchildren at their various activities. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling in the women's league, an animal lover, and a great neighbor and friend. Alice will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the positive impact she had on those around her.

Alice is survived by her four children: Ann Weber (Wayne Schneider), Julie (Jeff) Pasterski, Jeff (Lisa) Weber, and Sarah (Matthew) Kroeplien; grandchildren Benjamin, Amanda, Claire and Dawn Pasterski, Jillian and Sienna Weber, Cora and Mara Kroeplien; sister Rosemary (Gerald) Schaefer and twin brother, Alex Sabel. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Edward J Weber Jr., brothers-in-law Lee (Arlene and Dottie) Weber, Marvin (Elvira) Weber, sisters-in-law Althea (Walter) Schmidt, Bernice (Willis) Pennell, Ethel (Robert) Pohl, Phyllis Weber, and Winifred Conway.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 94 N. Lincoln Street, Elkhart Lake, WI 53020. Rev. Subi Thomas will officiate. Alice will be laid to rest next to her husband in the parish cemetery in the Town of Rhine.
