Obituary

Allen A. Quackenboss, age 83, of St. Cloud/Town of Forest died Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. He was born May 24, 1929 in St. Cloud to the late Andrew & Ida (Walgenbach) Quackenboss. Allen attended Elder Grove School and St. Cloud Catholic Grade School. On May 29, 1951, he married Catherine "Katie" Schad at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; Katie preceded him in death on August 26, 1977. On December 30, 1978, he married Elizabeth "Liz" (Schockmel) Hansmann at St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah. Allen was the fourth generation to work the family homestead until retiring. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Quackenboss of St. Cloud; his five children, Karen (Donald) Schmitz of Fond du Lac, John (Lois) Quackenboss of St. Cloud, Paul (Anne) Quackenboss of St. Cloud, Lori (Gary) Kraus of St. Cloud, and Charles (Chris) Quackenboss of St. Cloud; five step-children, Mary (Gary) Lunde of Green Bay, Joan Vander Sande of Plymouth, Betty (Tyler) Schaefer of Kiel, Judith (Scott) Steele of Riverton, Utah, and Timothy (Amy) Hansmann of Shorewood; 21 grandchildren, Christopher Schmitz, Michael (Andrea) Schmitz, Katherine (Matt) Hansen, Adam (Sarah) Quackenboss, Heidi Quackenboss, Abigail Quackenboss, Ethan Quackenboss, Jason Kraus, Katie Kraus, Daniel Quackenboss, Sara (Andrew) Scharschmidt, Tyler Borland, Brian Lunde, Matthew (Beth) Lunde, Nicole (Lee) Watson, Melissa (Ben) Hill, Amber (Tim) Winter, Meghan (Andrew) Bernath, Brittany (Zack) Baird, Jonathan Wilkins, and Nicholas Hansmann; 16 great-grandchildren; his brother, Frances Quackenboss of Fond du Lac; his sister, Joan (Albert) Schad of New Holstein; brother-in-law, Robert (Esther) Schad of Chilton; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" Wiskerchen of New Holstein, Judy Thuecks of Oak Creek, Dorothy Schad of New Holstein, and Serena Quackenboss of Fond du Lac. Preceding him in death were his parents, Andrew & Ida Quackenboss; his first wife, Catherine "Katie"; a granddaughter, Grace Quackenboss; a step-son-in-law, Alden Vander Sande; a brother, Roman Quackenboss; a sister, Esther (Alven) Selk; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Quackenboss. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 23, 2012 at St. Isidore Parish Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W, in Mount Calvary. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday, November 23rd from 2-5:30 PM with services to follow.
