Alma C. Kraus, age 95, formerly of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe", died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. The former Alma Wagner was born March 6, 1916 in the Town of Marshfield near St. Joe to the late Peter & Gertrude (Pickart) Wagner. She attended St. Joseph Grade School. On August 31, 1949, she married Melvin Kraus at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Before her marriage, Alma worked as a CNA in the ER at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac; after her marriage, she helped run the family farm. Alma was a member of St. Isidore Parish St. Joseph Church and the Christian Mother's Society. Survivors include her husband, Melvin of Mount Calvary; her daughter, Mary Ann Kraus of Mount Calvary; her grandson, Kevin Kraus and his significant other, Alina Ciepluch of Waupun; a brother, Benno (Florence) Wagner of St. Cloud; her sister, Christine Schmitz of Fond du Lac; her brother-in-law, Benno (Betty) Kraus of Marytown; sisters-in-law, Loretta Morgan of Mount Calvary, Lorraine Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Rosemary (Jerome) Baus of Fond du Lac, and Joanne Freund of New Holstein. Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Alois & Joseph Kraus; two brothers, Alfred Wagner and Ray (Valeria) Wagner; a sister, Martha (Ed) Halter; brothers-in-law, Melvin Schmitz, Leo Morgan, Francis Schumacher, & Wilmer Freund; and her sister-in-law, Bernice Wagner, and a Godson, Ronald Schmitz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 27, 2011 at St. Isidore Parish St. Joseph Church W620 County Road G St. Cloud "St. Joe". Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Thursday, May 26th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 AM when brief family rites will be held. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:45 PM.
