Alma "Dixie" Libke, 89, formerly of New Holstein died early Saturday morning, November 6, 2010 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. She was born December 19, 1920 in Brothertown to the late Nicholas & Katherine Steiner Muellenbach. Dixie attended St. Charles Grade School in Charlesburg. On September 8, 1945, she married Glendon "Glen" Libke at St. Charles Catholic Church in Charlesburg. Glen preceded her in death on March 2, 2003. Dixie had worked at the former Leverenz Shoe Co., Tecumseh Products and owned & operated the Family Shoe Store in New Holstein for 12 years until retirement. She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and its Christian Women's Society and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the New Holstein American Legion Auxiliary for 52 years and a past member of the New Holstein Chamber of Commerce. Dixie was a 4-H leader and a hospice volunteer for five years. Dixie was very active with her Bridge Club. Dixie loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her grandchildren will always remember the times spent with her at their cottage. She will be dearly missed by her family, many friends, and neighbors. Survivors include her four daughters, Jeanne (Michael) Schmal of Fond du Lac, Von Hemauer of Wausau, Lois (Arlyn) Nett of Marshfield, and Terese (Mark) Koenigs of Malone; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her sister, Leona Rollman formerly of Chilton; five sisters-in-law, Delphia Salzman, Florence Bruckner, Betty Libke, Laura Muellenbach, and Marian Muellenbach and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Glen; four brothers, Alfred, Claude, Ed, and Elmer Muellenbach and her sister, Lydia Woelfel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Avenue in New Holstein on Friday afternoon, November 12th from 3:00 -6:30 PM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home.
