Obituary

Alvin "Al" J. Daun Alvin "Al" J. Daun, 86, of St. Cloud, was reunited with his wife Lucy on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Hospice Home in Fond du Lac. He was born May 10, 1925, the same day as his wife, in Johnsburg to the late John & Gertrude (Karls) Daun. On June 28, 1945 he married Lucille Krebsbach at St. Anna Catholic Church, St. Anna, WI. Alvin was employed by the Kohler Company for over 45 years. In addition, he also ran his family farm in St. Cloud. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish, St. Cloud Church. Al was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed selling his produce at various area farmers markets. He shared this love with his grandchildren, who cherish these special summer memories. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, playing cards, and joining family and friends on trips to the casinos. Survivors include his 4 children, Terry (Susan) Daun, Judy (Larry) Goebel, Gary (Cindy) Daun, and Jody (Lyle) Goebel, all of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by 16 grandchildren, Dan Daun, Don (Char) Daun, Deanna Daun, Dennis Daun, Tracy Daun, Travis (Mary) Daun, Theresa (Andrew) Menting, Tony Goebel, Noah Goebel, Jessica Daun, Jordan Daun, Jillian Daun, Kyle Goebel, Jenna Goebel, Leah Goebel, and Shelly (Bob) Swenson; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Kuenzi of North Fond du Lac; 3 brothers-in-law, Orville Krebsbach of St. Peter, Gerald (Sylveria) Krebsbach of Fond du Lac, Norman (Patsy) Krebsbach of Kiel, a sister-in-law, Marietta Krebsbach of Kiel He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; his parents; a son Dennis Daun; 2 sisters, Peggy Petrie-Abler and Elsie Abler; in-laws, Claude (Emily) Krebsbach, Evelyn Krebsbach, Ben Abler, Walter Petrie & Harry Kuenzi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Isidore Parish, St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday April 22, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM and Monday from 9:00-9:30 AM when brief family rites will be held. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:00 PM Alvin's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Hospice Home Staff and volunteers who cared for and comforted him during these past 9 months.
