Ambrose J. Buechel, age 85, formerly of the Calumetville area, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
He was born March 6, 1930, to the late Henry & Agnes (Schneider) Buechel.
On September 12, 1950, he married Marion Wirtz at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Marion preceded him in death on June 27, 2010.
Ambrose farmed with his wife and family in the Town of Calumet near Calumetville. He also did custom harvesting for many farmers in the surrounding area. In addition, he worked for many years at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein.
He enjoyed attending the Vintage Steel tractor show, playing cards and being outdoors. In addition to farming, he enjoyed raising ducks and rabbits. He was a very patient and hard- working man who took great pleasure in spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ambrose was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. He and his wife were former members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho.
He is survived by his two children, Marilyn (Jim) Juckem of Chilton and Jim (Karen) Buechel of Malone; five grandchildren, John (Kate) Juckem, Mary Juckem, David Juckem, Kevin Buechel and Kelly Buechel (fiance', Adam Lamb); two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joseph Juckem; his sister, Alice Petrie of North Fond du Lac and two sisters-in-law, Valeria Buechel and Marie Schneider.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry & Agnes Buechel; his wife, Marion Buechel; two brothers, Leander (Margaret) Buechel & Clarence Buechel; two sisters, Viola (Lester) Schmitz & Millie (Ed) Schneider; a brother-in-law, Harold Petrie; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Herman & Regina Wirtz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg (N9288 County Road W Fond du Lac, WI 54935). Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Ambrose will be laid to rest next to Marion at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho.
Family and friends may greet the family at the church in Johnsburg from 12:00pm to 2:45pm.
