Obituary

Ambrose "Speed" B. Feldner, age 92, of Fond du Lac, formerly of St. Cloud, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was born March 6, 1918, in St. Cloud, to Benedict "Ben" and Mary "Mae" Pickart Feldner. He attended St. Cloud Grade School. On September 2, 1940, he married Marian Lefeber at St. Cloud Catholic Church. He began his career of over 75 years in the auto industry by establishing a single gas pump station in St. Cloud which eventually grew to become Feldner Chevrolet and in time, the addition of snowmobile and Mercury Marine sales. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish, St. Cloud Church, Winnebago East Shore Lions Club, Former member of the St. Cloud Volunteer Fire Department where he proudly served as Chief for 40 years. He was also a former Bank Director for over 40 years for the former State Bank of St. Cloud, former member of Wisconsin Automotive and National Automotive Trade Association, honorary member of the Fond du Lac Knights of Columbus. He and several other area residents were instrumental in obtaining the land to establish the village park in St. Cloud. Speed and Marian spent their winters in Winterhaven, Florida, and their summers at their home on Lake Winnebago, after retiring. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marian, of Fond du lac: his daughters, Judy (Eugene "Pedro") Wagner of St. Cloud, Jane (Jerry) Mueller of Plymouth, and Joyce (John) Helz of Oshkosh: seven grandchildren, Jodi (Todd) Beyer, Joel (Jenny) Wagner, Jeff (Marsha) Mueller, Jeane (Brent) Sager, Julie (Chris) LaVine, Hope (Matthew) Middendorp, and Jonathan Helz: ten great-grandchildren, Madelyn Mueller, Adam and Emily LaVine, Darian and Amanda Sager, Emma and Grace Wagner, Parker, Finlay and Emerson Middendorp.: his in-laws, Leora Salchert, Rosie Dreifuerst, Lucy Lefeber, LaVerne "Jim" Lefeber, Joseph (Mae) Lefeber and Harold Lefeber all of St. Cloud; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mae Feldner; his brother, Arnold Feldner; his sister-in-law, Betty Lefeber; his brothers-in-law, Elmer Salchert, Marvin Lefeber and Roy Dreifurst, and many friends, especially from his hunting and fishing groups. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Isidore Parish, St. Cloud Church at 924 Main Street in St. Cloud, with Larry Abler OFM Cap. and Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. concelebrating. Inurnment will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery. Family and Friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Monday, February 14, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 AM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Monday evening at 8:00 PM. A memorial fund will be established in his name.
