Anna Marie (Konen) Schneider, age 97, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. Ann was born on May 8, 1924, to Peter and Anna Marie (Schmitz) Konen at their farm on Banner Road in Dotyville. She was a proud graduate of St. Michael's grade school in Dotyville, which was the end of her formal education, as it was of many of her peers in that time and place. After working in a Fond du Lac factory during the war years, Ann met Leo Schneider at a barn dance. They married on May 10, 1947, and began their life together, first farming in Johnsburg, and then raising a family in Marytown. In 1966, they moved to Sheboygan, where they lived for over 50 years. Leo passed away in 1998, and Ann enjoyed several years in an apartment complex for seniors until moving to the Villas in Mount Calvary in 2019. Ann is survived by her seven children: Joseph (Susan) of Fredonia, Irene of New York City, Kathleen (Anthony) Braus of Middleton, Nicholas (Mary Gwen) of Portage, Robert (Phyllis) of West Salem, Richard (Linda) of Ripon, and Mary (Duane) Wepking of Dodgeville. She was grandmother to 18 children and great-grandmother to 18 more. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Estelle (Gust Lueck) and Ambrose (Jill) and David (Cora) Konen. One sister-in-law, Rosalyn Schneider of Fond du Lac, survives her, as do many nieces and nephews, more than a few of whom called her their godmother. Ann was a devout Catholic, who faithfully kept holy water in her home and wore out rosary beads. At Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan, she also joined the St. Anne Society and, indulging the joy she found in singing, was active in choir. Like Leo, she was quick to volunteer her time and energy to serve others. In Marytown, she was a member of Marytown Homemakers, who taught their daughters domestic skills. In Sheboygan they were active with local Optimists International, and with Meals on Wheels, where their work captured the attention of the Sheboygan Press, which featured them in a story on April 12, 1989. Ann also worked. With her youngest children in their teens, she found employment at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Central Services Technician. Ann and Leo enjoyed a long retirement, traveling to visit their children and their families around the state and country, and once to England when their youngest, Mary, was studying abroad. Ann was a cheerful, warm, and witty mother and grandmother, quick to laugh and always ready with a story or song for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be missed. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Randy Knauf, OFM Cap will preside. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, July 9th, from 11 to 1, at Sippel Funeral Home in St Cloud.
