Arline A. Hacker, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2018. She was born in Rockland Township, Reedsville, WI on March 17, 1919, daughter of John and Carrie Schmidt. She was a 1937 graduate of Reedsville High School and graduated from Manitowoc County Normal. After two years of teaching elementary school in Manitowoc Rapids, she was united in marriage to Ross H. Hacker June 12, 1942. Arline farmed with her husband on Lone Chestnut dairy farm, Route 1, Brillion, milking registered Ayrshire dairy cows, mornings and evenings. Arline received her B.S. Degree in 1968 from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and taught elementary school in the Hilbert and later Chilton School Districts. She was president of the Calumet County Homemakers and sang in the Brillion Civic chorus. She was an active member of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in Forest Junction where she was a Sunday school teacher, President and Secretary of the United Methodist Women and choir member. In 1981, Arline and her husband retired and moved to Arizona City and later Apache Junction, AZ where they were members of the United Methodist Church in Gold Canyon. She enjoyed hiking, golfing, traveling, crocheting, gardening, crafting, reading and playing games. At the age of 71, Arline hiked the Grand Canyon, 14 miles down in one day, and 7.5 miles out.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in laws Constance and Phalen Schuler of Gold Canyon, AZ, Ronda and Jim Michels of Las Vegas, NV and Marcia Woody of Springfield, MO, six grandchildren Daniel Flitsch, Steven Flitsch , Marlo Lancaster, Kimberly Aston, Katelyn Woody and Jacob Woody, thirteen great grandchildren, and sister Gladys Huber. Arline was preceded in death by her husband Ross, daughter Susan Flitsch, two son-in-laws David Flitsch and Brad Woody and two sisters Phyllis Pautz and Angeline Zoerb.
A Memorial Service will be held June 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at Camp Forest Junction, Forest Junction, Wisconsin followed by interment at Forest Home Cemetery.
