Beatrice "Mickey" E. Gebhard, age 80, of New Holstein died peacefully Thursday, July 26, 2012, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton with her loving family at her side.
The former Beatice Turba was born August 27, 1931 to the late Otto & Ermina (Wiesickel) Turba.
Mickey attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School, Kiel and graduated in 1949 from Kiel High School.
She married Allison "Lefty" Gebhard at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel on February 23, 1952.
Mickey was employed at the former Hansen Glove factory in Kiel for 7 years and at Kestell Furniture factory in New Holstein for 15 years.
She was a church organist for 50 years serving parishes in Elkhart Lake, New Holstein, Kiel, St. Anna, and Marytown where she also was the choir director.
Mickey was a member of the Holy Rosary Congregation in New Holstein and its Christian Mothers Society in Kiel. She belonged to the American Legion Auxilary, Mission Quilters, and the Choir. Mickey was a volunteer at Calumet County Homestead "sing alongs" and was a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Survivors include her husband, Al "Lefty" Gebhard of New Holstein; her 4 children, Jeff (Marlene) Gebhard of Fond du Lac, Janine (Kevin) Mey of Kiel, Julie Hansen of Sheboygan, Joan (Steven) Merritt of Watertown; 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) Dahlke, Eric (Linda) Gebhard, Lisa Gebhard, Angela (Eric) Vandermause, Bradley Mey & his fiance'' Keely, Ronald Hansen & his fiance'' Mandy, Emily Merritt & Alex Merritt; 9 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Kathleen Tewelis of Greenfield, Ethel Schrieber of Kiel, and Janet Gebhard of Sheboygan; many nieces and nephews; countless friends, including her 4-legged companion Maddie.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Otto & Ermina Turba; sister & brother-in-law, Dorothy & Robert Schroeder; brother & sister-in-law, Ralph & Lois Turba; 4 brothers-in-law, John Tewelis SR, Wallace Kaiser, Fredrick Schreiber, and Ken Gebhard; sister-in-law, Laverne Kaiser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman officating and Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Kiel.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein on Tuesday from 3-6:00 PM when brief family rites will be held.
A memorial fund will be established in her name.
