Bernard M. "Bernie" Braun, 75, of the Town of Forest, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at his home with his family following a brave battle with lengthy illnesses.
He was born March 14, 1939, in the Town of Osceola; a son of the late Alois & Bernice (Freund) Braun.
Bernie attended St. Michael's Catholic School and also attended vocational school.
On July 11, 1964, he married the former Janice Klemme at St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah. The couple resided in Glenbeulah until 1971 when they moved to the Town of Forest.
Bernie had worked at Forest Springs Cheese Factory, Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein and had returned back to Forest Springs Tolibia Cheese Factory. He had also worked at the A&P in Plymouth. Since 1972, he has farmed in the Town of Forest until his death.
He is a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary and the Catholic Knights. Bernie was a former member of the Glenbeulah Volunteer Fire Department serving from 1964 to 1971. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society in Glenbeulah and later at St. Michael's in Dotyville.
Survivors include his wife, Janice, of 50 years; two sons, Robert (Yvette) Braun of Eden and John Braun of Mount Calvary; one daughter, Susan (David) Schevers of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Greg, Raven, Tera, Katie, and Kyle; three brothers, Richard (Darlene) Braun of Glenbeulah, James (Rose) Braun of Fond du Lac, and Michael (Lori) Braun of Elkhart Lake; three sisters, Joann (Howard) Vander Zanden of Stoughton, Geri (Frank) Steiner of Plymouth, and Darlene (James) Mueller of St. Cloud. He is further survived by aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Paul; aunts; and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church 308 County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Bernie will be laid to rest in the St. Thomas Aquinas-St. Fridolin Cemetery in Greenbush.
Family and friends may call at the church in Mount Calvary on Wednesday, January 7th from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
