Bernard A. Geiger

Bernard Bernie A. Geiger, age 89, was peacefully received into the arms of the Lord on May 25, 2011 at Brillion West Haven. Bernie was born in the Town of Brillion on July 25, 1921, son of the late Daniel and Ida (Vogel) Geiger. He served our country as a member of the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre in Japan from 1946 " 1947. He is a member of the Bloedorn- Becker-Jensen Post 126 of Brillion. Bernie married the former Katherine Preston on May 21, 1949 at St. Anns Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The couple recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. Bernie was no stranger to hard work. He devoted his life to his family and farming. Along with his dad and brothers, farming operations were created in three counties whereby the identity: Tri-County Farms was born. He continued to grow his operation along with his sons, eventually turning it over to them. His legacy and farms identity live on. To those who knew Bernie know that he loved to drive tractor, loved visiting at the caf, going to bingo with Mom, and going to the cottage. He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine of Brillion; four sons and their families: Dean (Debbie) Geiger, Brillion, and their children: Tony (Kari) Geiger, Craig (Melissa) Geiger, and Marcia (Tim) Roehrig; Patrick (Kim) Geiger, Brillion, and their children: Kristen (Scott) Geiger-Petersen, Amanda and Ashley Geiger; David Geiger, Brillion and his children: Jacob and Davey Geiger ; Bernard Jr. Bud (Brenda) Geiger, Brillion, and their children: Travis, Shayna, and Tianna Geiger; two daughters: Sharon (Michael) Van Lanen, Darboy, and their children: Jared (Stephanie) Van Lanen, Brian Van Lanen, Amy (Adam) Pruess, and Kim (Matthew) Merrick; Mary Kay (Steve) Gruett, Potter, and their children: Michelle, Adam, Nicholas, and Maria Gruett; 10 great-grandchildren with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way; Sisters: Hilaria Dvoracheck, Appleton and Rita (Allen) Wittman, Brillion, Dolores Diny, Depere, One Brother: Daniel (Beverly) Geiger, Brillion; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joseph Juckem, Chilton, Albert Brick, Depere, Joseph (Kathleen) Preston, Whitelaw, John (MaryAnn) Preston, Manitowoc, Francis (Leona) Preston, Whitelaw, Jeanette Preston, Whitelaw and Jim (fiance Del) Preston, Glenbeulah, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jacob Washington and Viola Preston, a grandson: Jonathan David Geiger, brothers: Norbert (Monica) Geiger and Elmer (Bernice Bun ) Geiger, Sisters: Ida Juckem and Germaine Brick, In-Laws: Edward Dvoracheck, Michael Diny, George Preston, Marian (Robert) Shamburek, Earl (Elmira) Preston, and Dorothy Preston, and other nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Holy Family Parish, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Larry Abler OFM Cap with burial at St. Mary/Holy Family Parish Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Bloedorn- Becker -Jensen Post #126 of Brillion. Friends may call on Tuesday at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the mass at 4:00 p.m. The Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion is assisting the Geiger family with funeral arrangements.
