Bernice Bun Geiger, age 79, formerly of Maplewood, Brillion, Chilton and Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away from complications due to Alzhiemers disease on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Jerseyville Nursing Home, Jerseyville, Illinois, where she was being lovingly cared for. Bun was born March 8, 1932 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to the late Harley and Ethel (Bliss) Wessel of Maplewood, WI. She graduated from Algoma High School, Algoma, WI in 1950. On July 14, 1951, she married her husband of 59 years, Elmer Geiger and moved to the family farm outside Brillion, WI. Bun assisted her husband, Elmer, in running the farm for many years until they moved to Brillion. While living there, she worked for several years as a receptionist at the Brillion Iron Works, followed by many years working as both a hostess and waitress at Michaels Supper Club in Brillion. Upon retirement, they moved to Chilton, followed by a move several years later to Appleton. She was a devoted mother, loved to play with her grandchildren, was an excellent cook, loved to golf, listen to all sorts of music, square dance, pick cherries in Door County, crochet, and garden (especially growing strawberries). She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Terry) Berge of Charlotte, NC; sons, Chuck Geiger of Appleton, and Robert (Charline) Geiger of Jerseyville, IL, and two grandchildren, Austin and Allison Geiger. In addition, her sister Lorraine (Stuart) Storm of Algoma, brothers " Donald (Lorraine) Wessel of Kewaunee, and Harold Wessel of Green Bay, plus in-laws as follows: Hilaria Dvorachek of Reedsville, Dolores Diny of DePere, Rita & Allan Wittman, Bernard & Catherine Geiger, Daniel & Beverly Geiger, Al Brick all of Brillion and Joe Juckem from Chilton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents Harley and Ethel Wessel of Maplewood, her sister Virginia Hansen of Florida, her parents in-law Daniel and Ida Geiger of Brillion, brother and sister-in-law Norbert and Monica Geiger of Brillion, sisters-in-law Ida Juckem of Chilton and Germaine Brick of Brillion, brothers-in-law, Ed Dvorachek of Reedsville and Mike Diny of DePere, and her beloved dog, Taffy. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Wieting Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, Brillion. A prayer service will conclude the evening visitation. The visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday morning, May 7, from 9:00 a. m. until 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the mass will be Rev. Larry Abler OFM Cap, with burial to follow at Holy Family/St. Marys Cemetery in Brillion. The family would like everyone attending the service to join them after the burial for a celebration of Buns life, food and fellowship at Cobblestone Creek of Brillion.
