Obituary

Bernice M. Scherer, age 92, formerly of rural Mount Calvary (Town of Forest), passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Kindred Hearts Assisted Living in Fond du Lac. The former Bernice Petri was born March 10, 1924, in Oshkosh to Oscar & Emma (Schmidt) Petri. On May 8, 1943, she married Harold Scherer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Forest. The couple farmed in the Town of Forest until her husband passed away in 1983. Bernice was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Forest and the Ladies Aid. Bernice enjoyed going to Curves in Fond du Lac. She faithfully exercised until age 87/88. The staff helped her along in her later years to allow her to continue what she loved to do, always with a warm smile on her face. Bernice also enjoyed polka dancing. Survivors include her four daughter, Marilyn (Francis) Smith of Carson City, NV, Marlene (James) Kollmann of Elcho, WI, Eileen (Dennis) Mueller of Van Dyne and Donna (Douglas) Koepke of Mount Calvary; 12 grandchildren, Michelle (Ray) Peterson, Pam Monzo, Troy (Debbie) Kollmann, Sean (Kerry) Kollmann, Kevin Mueller, Stacei (Scott) Rabe, Kristy (Matt) Novotny, Eric (Terra) Mueller, Daria (Matt) Sonnenfeld, Dania (Todd) Wickert, Dena (Dan) Scheiwe and Dylan Koepke; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bernice truly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Emma Petri and her husband, Harold Scherer. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Forest (W2090 State Hwy 23, Mount Calvary, WI 53057). Rev. Mark Barenz will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lyons Forest Home Cemetery in the Town of Forest. Visitation: family and friends may call at the church Saturday morning, April 30th from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM.
