Bertha “Bert” R. Brux, age 92, formerly of Brillion, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Paul’s Home in Kaukauna.
Bert was born on May 10, 1925 in Reek, Holland in the Netherlands, daughter of the late Martin and Hendricka (Williamsen) Vande Burgt. She married Howard “Howie” Brux on July 3, 1948 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Little Chute. Bert did many things. She worked for a short time at Zwicker’s, she was a stay at home Mother, baker, canner, florist, quilter, and gardener. She and Howie owned Howie’s Bar for many years as well. The couple also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time outdoors together. Bert was member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion.
She is survived by her two daughters and two sons-in-law: Evelyn (Jim) Johnson and Schila (Dale) De Coursin; one son: Gregory Brux and his special friend Gail; grandchildren: Mike (Holly) Johnson, Dave Johnson, Rich Reinke and special friend Mary, Derrick Reinke and special friend Michelle Dunnington; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, one brother, and three brothers-in-law: Marie Miller, Theresa Eiting, Betty Schroeder, Barb (LaVerne) Steinberg, Martin (Mary) Vande Burgt, Jr., Harvey Brux; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Vande Burgt and Regina Louison; one brother and sister-in-law: Adrian (Pat) Vandeburgt; five brothers-in-law: Jerry Miller, Harvey Schroeder, Leon Brux, Eugene Brux, and Merlin (Marge) Brux; and other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating will be the Rev. Timothy Brandt. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
