Betty Salm, age 97, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton surrounded by loving family.
Betty was born on January 27, 1926 in Clintonville, daughter of the late Arnold & Frieda (Wegner) Graper. She was a graduate of Waupaca High School, class of 1943. Betty married John Salm on October 11, 1947 in Appleton. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1989. Before moving to Potter in 1965, they lived on a farm in Mackville. After the move, Betty and her husband John owned and operated Salm’s Bar & Hall in Potter for nearly 25 years.
Together Betty and John raised 14 children; 12 girls and 2 boys: Joan (Dick) Quandt, Jean (Lloyd) Gruett, Mary Salm, Nancy (Ron) Halbach, Susie (Stan) Wehausen, Michael (Judy) Salm, Patrick Salm, Sharon (Jeff) Cross, Peggy (Ken) Propson, Bonnie (Dick) Schaefer, Penny Salm, Lori (Mark) Popp, Kim Salm, and Kay Salm. They were later blessed with 40 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, as well as seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm (Noon) on Monday May 1, 2023 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Officiating at the Mass of Christian burial will be the Rev. Father Ron Belitz and Deacon Dave Van Eperen with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hilbert.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, May 1, 2023 at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon.
