Obituary

Blanca E. (Shafer) Sokoloff, age 69, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at ThedaCare Hospital in Appleton, surrounded by her loving family, following a recurrence of cancer.

Blanca was born on September 28, 1956, in Mexico City, Mexico, to the late John and Maria (Maldonado) Shafer. On June 29, 1972, she married the love of her life, Rodney Sokoloff, in San Diego.

Blanca worked as a CNA coordinator at Milwaukee Catholic Home before retiring. Caring for others was more than simply her career—it was a natural part of who she was. She was a devoted caregiver who gave generously of her time, love, and compassion to those around her.

Above all else, Blanca loved her family. She treasured being surrounded by the people she loved and especially cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Eighteen years ago, Blanca faced her first battle with cancer and bravely fought through it. She was blessed with many more years to spend with her family, watching her grandchildren be born, grow up, and make memories that she held close to her heart. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through each of them.

Those left behind to cherish Blanca's memory include her beloved husband, Rodney; her three children, Rodney G. Sokoloff, Crystal L. Sokoloff, and Natasha L. Sokoloff; and her six surviving grandchildren, Sadie, Ella, Adalia, Derek, Simon, and Kyla. She is also survived by her brother and sisters, Dorothy (Peter) Stewart, Maria (Ed) Kearns, Anita (Dave) Gillis, and Tony (Brenda) Shafer; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Blanca was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Shanda; and her brothers, Johnny and Benjamin Shafer.

Blanca leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, compassion, and caring. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will take place Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at House of Heileman's, 5723 West Lake Drive, West Bend, WI 53095.
