Bonnie Jean (Wordell) Lau, age 80, of New Holstein, went to live with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 29, 2023, at her home.

She was born October 22, 1943, in the Town of Schleswig, to Edgar & Linda (Zahn) Wordell. Bonnie attended Woodland Park Grade School and graduated from Kiel High School in 1961.

On September 9, 1961, she married her best friend, Howard ''Howie'' Lau at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel; Howie preceded her in death on June 11, 2015.

Bonnie worked at the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein as a CNA for 25 years until retiring. She then worked for the lunch program at the New Holstein Elementary School and was also a receptionist for Weight Watchers for 10 years.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein. Bonnie was very active in her church; serving in many capacities including former council member, Women's Fellowship (holding all offices), Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, 50+ year Chancel Choir member, usher, and many other duties.

Bonnie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her first and only great-grandchild. She followed their activities in school and sports and was very proud of them. She loved doing things with her husband; dancing, singing Karaoke, and going fishing (especially sturgeon spearing). She was a member of the Louis Corners Sno-Birds and especially enjoyed the little get-aways she took with Howie during snowmobile season. Bonnie loved to read and at times would read more than two books a week. She also loved to cross stitch, giving a majority of her work as gifts to others. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards with family and friends, and enjoyed traveling with her husband. One of her favorite trips was when she and her husband swam with the dolphins and went para-sailing. Bonnie touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include her three children, Kevin Lau, Kim (Mark) Winkel, and Kay (Christopher ''Ditch'') Dedering; four grandchildren, Amanda Hall, James (Marlee) Hall, Justin Dedering, and Ashley Dedering; two step grandchildren, Matt (Natasha) Winkel and Michelle (Brad) Hansen; a great-grandchild, Henley Hall; several step great-grandchildren, Gillian, Aiden, Danica, Lauren, and Colin; her twin sister, Connie Wordell and her sister, Janice Loppnow; her sisters-in-law, Carol Wordell and Delores Wordell; her brother-in-law, Kurt (Sue) Lau; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Howie; her parents, Edgar & Linda Wordell; step mother, Edna Wordell; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Ralph & Gladys Lau; two brothers, Karl Wordell and Roger Wordell; two brothers-in-law, Richard Sauermilch and Myron ''Mike'' Loppnow; sister-in-law, Carol (Robert) Heimann, and two nephews, Terry Loppnow and Keith Bratz.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. John United Church of Christ, 2111 Church Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Michael Safford-Kennedy will officiate. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in the Town of Kossuth near Manitowoc.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Bonnie's family at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI on Thursday, January 4th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be at St. John United Church in New Holstein Friday morning, January 5th from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM.
