Br. Douglas (John) Bode OFM Cap, age 68, of the St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary, died Friday, December 3, 2010, at the St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac where he was a patient since Wednesday.
He was born June 13, 1942, in Port Washington, WI to the late George P. and Dorothy A. (Bostwick) Bode.
Br. Douglas graduated from high school at St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary. He was invested as a Capuchin Friar on August 31, 1960; took his First Vows on September 1, 1960 and Perpetual Vows on September 1, 1966. He studied Philosophy at St. Mary Seminary in Crown Point, IN and his Religious Studies in St. Paul, MN. His formation years were spent at St. Anthony Friary in Marathon, WI.
He had been the Business Manager of the Capuchin Mission Office in Detroit, MI and for the last 30 years, he was a teacher at the St. Lawrence Seminary.
Survivors include his brother, Steward (Martha) Bode of Elliott City, Maryland; his niece, Christine; his nephew, Bradley; an uncle, John Torke, his two aunts, Leona Bostwick and Sophie Bostwick; cousins; friends; and many Capuchin brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the St. Lawrence Seminary Chapel 301 Church Street in Mount Calvary. Fr. John Celichowski, Provincial Minister of the Capuchin Order of Detroit, will officiate along with Fr. Dennis Druggan & Fr. Werner Wolf concelebrating.
Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Friary Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the St. Lawrence Seminary Chapel on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
