Brian L. Petersen, age 48, of Brillion died peacefully on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay after a brave and courageous three year battle with AML (Leukemia). He was born on November 20, 1961, son of Elton and Mary (Lamers) Petersen in Green Bay. He graduated from Abbott Pennings High School in 1979 and attended St. Norbert College, graduating from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Brian married Linda L. Boettcher on September 8, 1984 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville. He was an electrician for Buss Electric in Greenville for 25 years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion. Brian's mother shared her love of the trombone with him and Brian shared that same love with his son Cory. All three generations played trombone together in the DePere City Band. Brian also was a 34 year member of the Brass Factory out of DePere, played with the Wayside-Morrison Concert Band and the family polka band for many years. Along with playing the trombone, Brian liked to listen to jazz, camping, snowmobiling, and watching his children grow up. Survivors include his wife Linda, a son Cory, a daughter Katie, all at home, his parents Elton & Mary Petersen of DePere, brothers and sisters and their families, Ken (Sue) Petersen of DePere, Duane (Mary) Petersen of Wrightstown, Mike (Shari) Petersen of Hollandtown, Dan (Shirley) Petersen of Greenleaf, Chris (Rick) Blair of Wrightstown, Dave (Rosalee) Petersen of Morrison, Paul (Jean) Petersen of DePere, his brothers-in-law and their families, Gerry Boettcher of Brillion, Larry (Judy) Boettcher of Reedsville, his mother-in-law Virginia Boettcher of Brillion, his godchildren, Jason Petersen of AZ, Abby Adrian of Kaukauna, Kelsey Boettcher of DePere, Taran Boettcher of Reedsville, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Brian was preceded in death by an infant brother Gerard, a niece Ashley Boettcher, and his father-in-law Elroy Boettcher. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. The Rev. Matt Simonar will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Family Parish Cemetery, Brillion. Friends may call at the church on Thur. from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and then again at the church on Friday from noon until the time of service. A parish prayer service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. led by Deacon Steve Letourneaux. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
