Obituary

Charles Frank "Chuck" Groeschel, age 89, of New Holstein passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Field of Dreams Assisted Living in Kiel where he resided for this past year.

He was born June 23, 1936, in Charlesburg to Louis & Elsie (Mertens) Groeschel. Chuck attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1955.

He also loved spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events. He was a die-hard Packers fan. In his later years, he could be seen walking throughout New Holstein striking up many conversations along his way.

Survivors include his two children, Allan Groeschel of Kiel and Kim (James) Ertel of rural Cleveland "Ada"; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Garret) Beckett, Lindsi (Ian) Byrne, Chelsea (Michael) Wawrzyniakowski, and Cody (Nikki) Ertel; six great-grandchildren, Myles Beckett, Madison & Grace Byrne, Brady & Marek Wawrzyniakowski, and Dalton James Ertel; his brother-in-law, Leander (Elizabeth) Ebertz of rural Mount Calvary; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Ebertz of Fond du Lac; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Verena "Mutz"; his son, James Groeschel; a grandson, Cory Groeschel; his parents, Louis & Elsie Groeschel; his sister, Kathleen (Vernon) Freund; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, William & Martina Ebertz; his brothers-in-law, Zeno (Grace) Ebertz, Ivo (June) Ebertz, Norman (Virginia) Ebertz, Alex Ebertz, and Vincent (Rosie) Ebertz.
