Charlotte M. Wieting

June 12, 1924 — March 30, 2010

Charlotte M. Wieting Sunrise/ June 12, 1924 - Sunset/ March 30, 2010 Charlotte was born to Robert and Ethel Hatch in Massachusetts on June 12, 1924. She came from a direct lineage to John Alden and Pricilla Mullins who were Pilgrims that came over on the Mayflower 300 years earlier. Further study of the family geneaology led to Charlotte's life long affiliation with the Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR). After graduating from Framingham State Teacher's College with a BS of Education degree in Home Economics, Charlotte received a prestigious appointment to the University of Illinois School of Medicine for accreditation to the American Dietetic Assn. She later became one of the lead Dietitians at Chicago's Cook County Hospital where she oversaw the distribution of 6000 meals a day in the 2000 bed hospital. She was also well versed in Patient Rights and Convalescent Center Administration from her time as the Lead Lay Social Worker and Geriatric Nutritionist at DuPage County Convalescent Center outside of Chicago. Charlotte met Ralph Wieting at the United Methodist Church, known as the Chicago Temple and they married in 1948. They had their only child, Cynthia in 1959 and Charlotte devoted time to her community when she wasn't taking care of her family. During this time she began a long and illustrious career as a Member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs that spans 50 years across the US. Charlotte served in many Administrative Roles within the Women's Club in Illinois and California and was honored as Woman of The Year (which made Ralph about burst his buttons with pride) in 1998. Ralph and Charlotte and Charlotte's Parents (who she took care of at home until their deaths) moved to California in 1978 and the family stayed on the West Coast coordinating with their daughter's career that began in LA and eventually the whole family migrated to Oregon with Cindy's 21 year career @ Nike. Once in Oregon, Charlotte engaged in the community through her affiliations with DAR, International P.E.O. Sisterhood and the United Methodist Church in Woodburn. Ralph passed away in May 2008 so the linkage to these organizations helped her stay connected to her friends while moving to the Marquis Assisted Living Community in the Summer of 2008. There she was known for her meticulous style, her engagement with her community and her vast Teddy Bear Collection. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph O. Wieting. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia M. Trames; son-in-law, Craig G. Trames; and granddaughters, Arianna and Athena. She is also survived by her dear friend and daughter-of-the-heart, Debbie Bramlage and her husband, Jim. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Woodburn United Methodist Church 700 N. Cascade Dr., Woodburn, Oregon. Editor's note: Charlotte was a sister-in-law to Merlin & Evelyn Wieting. Online condolences may be made at www.wieting-funeralhome.com.
