Obituary

Cletus A. Sippel, age 88, formerly of rural St. Cloud "Town of Forest", passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. He was born April 8, 1933, on the Sippel homestead in the Town of Forest, to Albert & Louise (Michels) Sippel. He attended St. Cloud Catholic Grade School and attended St. Mary's Springs High School. On June 16, 1956, he married Janet Schwind at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong. Clete and Janet lived most of their married life on the Sippel homestead in the Town of Forest where he farmed the family farm and worked at Banner Feeds for 47 years; he retired in 1998. After retiring, he worked part-time bagging groceries at Pick-N-Save on Pioneer Road in Fond du Lac and was a hospice volunteer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Cloud Church. Clete is survived by his wife, Janet; his four children, Jeanmarie (Mark) Werner of Fond du Lac, Kevin (Jennifer) Sippel of New Holstein, Craig (Kim) Sippel of Mount Calvary, and Michelle "Shelly" (Andy) Merten of rural St. Cloud; grandchildren, Justin (Victoria) Werner, Erin (Tyler) Knipple, Rebecca (Cordell) Wittgreve, stepgrandchildren Rachel (Jeremy) Fischer, William (Alyssa) Ebert, Timothy (Sarah) Ebert, grandchildren Jessica (Nick) Steiner, Mitchel Sippel (special friend, Amber), Heather (John) Thompson, and Ashley Merten; great-grandchildren, Winstyn, Knox, and Navy Werner, Arlo, Ida, and Iris Knipple, step greatgrandchildren Ashton, Elizabeth, and Dalton Fischer, Bryce, Brendon, Clayton, Tyler, Ryan, Meagan, Ian, Katie, Erik, and Emma Ebert, Alexander, Mathew, and Eliza Ebert, greatgrandchildren Alexander and Kennedy Steiner, Eli Taylor, Connor Thompson; his two brothers, Leroy (Rawleen) Sippel of St. Cloud and Rev. Bernard Sippel of Mount Calvary; his sisters-in-law, Helen Sippel of Milwaukee, Mary Lou Myer of Plymouth; and his brother-in-law, Jim Schwind of Whitehall, WI. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert & Louise Sippel; his brothers, Edward (Bernice) Sippel, Ambrose Sippel, and Alphonse (Virginia) Sippel; father-in-law & mother-in-law, John & Margaret (Scott) Schwind; his brothers-in-law, John (Barbara) Schwind and Jerome (Virginia) Schwind, Ronald Myer, and Richard Burbach. A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Bernie Sippel, Clete's brother, and Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap will officiate. Clete will be laid to rest in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery following the Mass. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Clete's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Friday morning, May 13th from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
