Conrad Meetz

February 15, 1938 — February 8, 2023

Conrad Meetz, age 84, of the town of Brillion, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on February 8, 2023.

Conrad was born on February 15, 1938, son of the late William and Helen (Zick) Meetz. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1955. On October 1, 1957, Conrad married Grace Hoyer at the Rural Brillion United Methodist Church.

Conrad is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Grace of Brillion; son and two daughters-in-law: Dale (Kathy), of Brillion, and Katherine, of Omro; grandchildren: Taryn (boyfriend Darin), Tyler (Logan), Kurtis (Jacquelyn), Kristine (Jamison) Princl, Alex (girlfriend Mariana), and special family friend Tawni Swanson; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Harper, Parker, Ryleigh, Isla, Nash, and a baby soon to be born; his loyal dog, Chase; his siblings and in-laws: Otis (Sandy), Silas (Karen), Jewel (Judy), Joyce (Christine), Alicia Kirby, Roxanna (Thomas) Kleinheinz, and Royal; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Conrad was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Pamela Ann in 1966; son, Jody Charles in 2022; sister, Jean Kolacheski; father-in-law, Walter Hoyer Sr., brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Jim Kirby and Walter Jr. (Lucille) Hoyer; and other relatives.

Conrad worked for several employers throughout his life: Brillion Iron Works, Thilmany Paper, Keller Implement, Town of Brillion, and Equity Livestock Auction. He owned and operated Conrad’s Transport and drove a semi-truck across the country. All these jobs were necessary to allow him to do the job he loved the most, farming.

Together, for over 50 years, Conrad and Grace owned and operated Golden Meadow Farms, a small farming operation on the farmstead originally owned by his great-grandparents. Conrad loved and respected the land he farmed. Combining the fields of corn and wheat brought him great joy.  He took pride in his barn, buildings, and machinery, especially his John Deere tractor.  He raised every animal with a gentle hand.

Although there was always something to fix on the farm, Conrad was able to enjoy his favorite hobbies from time to time.  He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, especially trips to Canada, camping, and traveling around the United States.  His favorite trips were always to Arizona to see his son, Jody and his family.

Conrad loved his family deeply and spending time with him on the farm was always a joy.  He showed his children and grandchildren to put their faith in God, to appreciate what they have, and to work hard.  God has put Conrad’s hard-working hands to rest.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion.  Officiating will be Rev. Dale Eggert.  Burial will be at Brillion Community Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Moments Hospice for the kind and gentle care they provided to Conrad especially Kristina, Christina, Erin, and Meghan as well as his granddaughter Kristine.
