David Allen Ott

October 3, 1945 — September 2, 2024

David Allen Ott, age 78, of the Town of Brillion, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 2, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

David was born on October 3, 1945, son of the late Donald and Lucille (Zick) Ott. He was a graduate of Brillion High School with the class of 1963 where he was a member of the wrestling and football teams. Following high school, he took a farming short course in Madison and farmed for most of his adult life with his brother at D&S Ott Farms. David was a member of Zion Church in Forest Junction and was also a volunteer fire fighter in the same town for over 20 years. After a truck accident nearly ten years ago that left him paralyzed from the waist down, he taught us how to live life to the fullest, to be patient and to appreciate all that God has given us. David considered this accident a second birth as it took away his previous pain that had plagued his life prior to the accident. He will be remembered for his laugh and wonderful smile. He loved his little garden, doing puzzles and visiting with family and friends. David was known far and wide for waving to passing traffic on the corner of Hwy 57 and Hacker Road. It was his way of spreading happiness. David is now saved and in Heaven walking with Jesus.

Survivors include his brothers: Joel (Betty) Ott, Scott (Annie) Ott; his sisters: Julie (Jerome) Bastian, Kristi Cournoyer, Kaye (William) Wynen, Mary (Tom) Brouillard; and one sister-in-law: Nancy Ott. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. David was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Norman Ott; and one brother-in-law: Kent Cournoyer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Zion Church in Forest Junction. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Justin Dietel with burial to follow at Forest Home Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Calumet County nurses and caregivers. David was always so thankful for his sisters and their help to keep him in his home.

Precious Lord, take my hand, Lead me on, let me stand;

I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;

Through the storm, through the night, Lead me on to the light;

Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home…
