David E. "Schlupp" Petrie, age 44, of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe" passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, following a battle with Melanoma.
He was born September 11, 1969, at Chilton Memorial Hospital to Edwin & Kathleen "Kitty" (Fuhrmann) Petrie.
Dave graduated from New Holstein High School in 1988. He helped out on the family farm in St. Joe and had worked at Bremer Mfg. in St. Anna for over 20 years.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Joseph Church.
Survivors include his son, Skylar; his parents, Edwin & Kathleen "Kitty" Petrie of St. Cloud "St. Joe"; his sisters, Jan (Glen) Hoople of Fond du Lac, Diane Petrie of St. Cloud "St. Joe", and Pat (Dan) Winkler of St. Cloud; his brother-in-law, Pete Katze of Pardeeville, WI; nieces & nephew, Ashley, Megan, and Kelsey Hoople, Stacy (Fiance'e, Jacob), Jenny, and Sarah Winkler, Samantha Draves, and Adam Katze; other relatives; and many friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter & Cecelia Fuhrmann; his paternal grandparents, Claude & Leona Petrie; two sisters, Kris Katze and Lynn Petrie; and a nephew, Hunter Katze.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, January 27, 2014, at St. Isidore Parish – St. Joseph Church W620 County Road G St. Cloud, WI 53079 "St. Joe". Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap and Rev. Oliver Bambenek OFM Cap will concelebrate. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends may call on the family at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Monday, January 27th from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM when brief rites will be held.
Memorials may be directed for the trust for his son, Skylar or to cancer research.

David's family extends their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the many people, especially Todd, Terry, Gary, Doug, Amy, Tanner and those who visited Dave, made food, and helped out in any way during his illness. They also wish to extend their appreciation to the Cancer Center and the 6th & 5th floor staff at St. Agnes Hospital.
