Obituary

Deloris Kleinhans, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023 at Caring Hands in New Holstein.

Deloris was born June 10, 1934 to Raymond and Norma (Garbe) Drews, the oldest of four children. She enjoyed growing up in Kiel and had fun memories of working at the movie theater and as a "Hello Girl" telephone operator at General Telephone Company in the 1950's.

After marrying Merle Kleinhans in 1955, they settled on the Kleinhans family homestead in New Holstein where they raised six children and together ran an excavating business.

Her children will remember her as a caring and creative person, one heck of a great cook, baker of delicious breads and desserts and a master at canning delicious pickles.

Always doing something, Deloris was an avid gardener, skilled knitter and sewer as well as a talented artist that filled our family home with her paintings, handicrafts and yummy food. She loved music and wrote and had recorded two original songs in the 1970's.

To ensure that her children and grandchildren remembered their German heritage, she wrote two books, thoroughly documenting both her and Merle's family genealogy back to Germany.

Deloris joins in passing both her parents, siblings Raymond "Sonny" Jr., Donald and Patricia, husband Merle and grandson Dylan.

She is survived by her children Kathy Kleinhans, Debra (Michael) Ramirez, Merle (Bizhen) Kleinhans, James Kleinhans, Ken Kleinhans and Barbara Kleinhans; five grandchildren Erika Ramirez, Alliee Kleinhans, Devyn Kleinhans, Cory Kleinhans, Jessica (Cody) Buerger and great-grandson Waylon Buerger.

Her children would like to thank everyone at Caring Hands that cared for and loved Deloris, Calumet County Hospice for their compassionate guidance and all of her friends and family for their support.

We love you Mom.

To honor our mother's wishes, in lieu of a service or flowers we request that you remember her fondly in your hearts.
