Dolores Grace "Sis" Pauly, of New Holstein, Wisconsin, died on February 26, 2010 at home at the age of 82. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after a long struggle with Progressive Supra/Nuclear Palsy.
She was born in New Holstein on August 23, 1927, the daughter of Adolph and Olive Heus Langenfeld. Dolores graduated from New Holstein High School in 1945. She attended Marquette University, graduating with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in 1949. It was at Marquette where she met her husband Greg. They were married on August 7, 1948 at Holy Rosary Church in New Holstein and moved to New Holstein after graduation. She worked for Flexicog Corporation of New Holstein before starting a family.
Dolores was a devout Christian and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She strove to live by her faith with incredible reservoirs of love, kindness, understanding and forgiveness. She was active as a C.C.D. teacher in her earlier years and was a member of the Christian Woman's Society at her parish. She volunteered in many civic organizations and charities, including the Girl Scouts, as a Brownie troop leader and organizer of the first Senior Girl Scout Troup in New Holstein; She also served as a den mother with the Cub Scouts; President of the local American Foreign Student Exchange program; Secretary of Friends of the Library; Co-Chairman of the Community Chest Drive; volunteered at Willowdale Nursing Home. She was a member of the Willowdale Women's Auxiliary; Calumet County Homestead Auxiliary; Calumet Nature Studies, Inc.; Pioneer Corner Historical, New Holstein; Calumet Medical Center Auxiliary. In her younger days she was a member of the Outdoors where she enjoyed shooting trap.
Dolores was involved with the county and state Federation of Republican Women, serving a term as the Calumet County President. She actively supported Marquette University throughout her life as a member of the Executive Committee of the President's Council, the Woman's Council, and the Haggerty Museum of Art.
Dolores is survived by Greg, her husband of 61 years; her son Jeff and wife Cathie of Middleton, Wisconsin and their children, Justin and Lindsay Pauly (Dan Ohrtman); one daughter, Susan Schmitz and husband Gary of New Holstein, and their children, Olivia (Matt) Simons, Grayson and Michael Schmitz; son Michael of Middleton, and his son, Gregory Pauly; son Robert and wife Zi of Chicago, and their children, Fay and Jason Pauly; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Langenfeld and LuAnn Langenfeld; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Howard Langenfeld.
Dolores' life in her last years was enriched, and her burdens eased, by the special love and attention she received from home caregivers Barb Depies, Diane Klotz, Jackie Driessen, Joanie Mott, Sandy Resch, Robin Ruch and Nichole Byng.
Sis will long be remembered for her extraordinary grace & social presence. She touched many people's lives as well as their hearts by innumerable acts of love and thoughtfulness. She will be deeply missed & joyously remembered by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Holy Rosary Church 1724 Madison Street New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate.
Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 10-11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Sis' name.
