Dolores Mary Schmitz, 85, a resident of Libby's House, Chilton passed away December 4, 2015. She was born on February 5, 1930 in Johnsburg, daughter of the late Lidwina Schmitz. She graduated from St. John's Catholic Grade School and also attended Chilton High School.
On August 25, 1951 she married the late Vernon R. Schmitz at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. They farmed in rural Marytown for 44 years before moving to St. Peter in 1995. She later moved to New Holstein and Chilton. She enjoyed music with Vernon, baking, crafts, watching the Green Bay Packers and most of all caring for her family.
Dolores was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. She was also a member of St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society of Marytown and the St. Could area Catholic Knights.
Dolores is survived by three sons, Gary Schmitz and special friend (Sharon Schroeder) of Sheboygan, Stanley (Kathy) Schmitz of St. Cloud, Alan (Wanda) Schmitz of New Holstein; three daughters, Linda Piskorowski of Ithaca, NY, Janice (Gerard) Kraus of Stevens Point, and Karen (Thomas) Matthews of Chilton; Three grandchildren, Craig (Amy) Schmitz of Sussex, Damien Schmitz and special friend (Kim Gerner) of New Holstein, and Harry Matthews of Chilton; three great-grandsons, Tanner James, Ethan James, and Ryan Anthony; two very special people who are a brother and sister to her, Bernice (Gerald) Schmitz and Anthony (Barbara) Bertram; two half-brothers, Roger (Gloria) Engel and John Engel; Two half-sisters, Marianne Timblin and Carolyn (Gordon) Immel; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon R. Schmitz; son, James Alan Schmitz; granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Schmitz; mother Lidwina Schmitz; foster parents, Mathias and Selma Bertram; In-laws, Adrian (Viola) Schmitz, Alvin (Martina) Schmitz, Norman Schmitz and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate & Dr. Francis Schmitz, a special cousin, assisting.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at Holy Rosary Church, New Holstein on Wednesday, December 9th from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM. Entombment will be at Chapel of Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
