Obituary

Donald I. Becker, age 90, of New Holstein died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born June 7, 1922 in Fond du Lac to the late Irving & Anna (Bastian) Becker. He attended Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac and spent 19 months in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Don served 39 months in the Army Air Corps during World War II. During that time, he spent 15 months on the Island of Saipan. On December 1, 1945 he married Lucille Hansen at Fort Meyer, VA. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2005. The family moved to New Holstein in 1960. Don was employed as an engineer at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein for 25 years. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the CCC Alumni Chapter 94 in Fond du Lac and a member of the NCCCA. Survivors include his three children, Donald (Cathy) Becker of Lakeland, FL, Robert (Patricia) Becker of Chilton, and Mary (Robert) Braun of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Becker, Sandra (Todd) Shunneson, Cyd (John) Girard, Amerie Becker, Ethan(Amanda) Becker, Rebecca (Matt) Schwab, Robert (Roxy) Braun, and Gregory Braun; two step-grandchildren, Eric (Jamie) Plate & Mandie (John) May; eight great grandchildren, Jackson Quick, Calley Becker, Serena Shunneson, Joseph, Johnathan, and Hollyann Becker, Ally Rose & Warren Schwab; four step great grandchildren, Michael & Evan May and Kaleb & Aubrey Plate; three brothers, Clifford of North Fond du Lac, Eugene (Mae) of Fond du Lac, and Kenneth (Eleanor) of Fond du Lac; his sister, Carol Dehnel of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law Don Hansen of Oshkosh; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Zienert of Larson. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lucille, parents, step mother, Dorothy, his sister, Joyce, father-in-law & mother-in-law, Harry & Genevieve Hansen. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in New Holstein. Military Rites conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 will take place at the cemetery.
