Obituary

Donald (Bud) J. Kubale, age 94, of New Holstein, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein with his family at his side.

He was born January 28, 1928, in Chilton to Wilbert & Lucille (Freitag) Kubale. Bud attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Chilton and graduated from Chilton High School in 1946.

On September 14, 1948, he married Shirley Voelker at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Shirley preceded him in death on June 7, 2021.

In his early years, Bud worked at the Chilton Shopping Center as Manager of the grocery department. Later, he delivered propane gas for several different gas companies for 39 years until retiring.

Bud was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and the Holy Name Society. As a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12393 in New Holstein, he chaired the Tootsie Roll drive for many years. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a life-long member of the St. Anna Sportsman Club and Brothertown Fishing Club. Bud was a former member of the Chilton City Band, coach in the Pee Wee League, and Cub Scout Leader.

Survivors include his three children, Karen (Robert) Rautmann of Manitowoc, Kristine (John) Esch of Sheboygan, and Mark (Becky) Kubale of West Bend; five grandchildren, Dustin (Joyce) Price of Manitowoc, Chad Rautmann of Chicago, Adam Rautmann of Milwaukee, Julie (Joel) Miesfeld of Brookfield, and Laura (Matt) Kurth of Morgantown, WV; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander and Joshua Price, Sophie, Eleanor, Roslyn, and Clara Miesfeld, Audrey, Gretchen, and Katherine Kurth.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert & Lucille Kubale; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Edmund & Hildegard Voelker.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Alvan Amadi will officiate. Bud will be laid to rest next to his wife, Shirley, in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Bud's family at the Holy Rosary Church on Wednesday, November 16th from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM.

A memorial fund will be established in his name.

Bud's family expresses their sincere appreciation to Willowpark Place Assisted Living, Willowdale Nursing Home, and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
