Donald M. Haensgen, age 80, of Malone "Johnsburg" passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac following complications of a stroke.

He was born September 27, 1942, in Johnsburg to Leander & Mary Agnes (Olig) Haensgen. Donny attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School and Goodrich High School.

At the age of 16, he started working at Eddie Halfman's Garage in Pipe, then Froehlich Construction and Schrage Bros before going to Mercury Marine in 1964 until he retired in 2005.

On February 8, 1964, he married Betty J. Karls at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown.

Donny played hardball and softball for many years. He was an avid sturgeon spearer, fisherman, and loved deer hunting. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going on trips, and camping with his family and friends during the summer. Donny enjoyed going to watch his grandchildren & great-grandchildren's sporting events and other school activities as well as watching the Brewers and Packers religiously.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. John the Baptist Church and the Holy Name Society. Donny joined the Town of Calumet Fire Department in 1962 and retired in 1999; he served as a lieutenant in the department from 1982-1992.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; his six children, Ken (Vicki) Haensgen of Malone "Johnsburg", Sandy (Joe) Greuel of Fond du Lac, Barb (Dan) Rose of St. Cloud, Steve (Val) Haensgen of New Berlin, Krissy (Eric) Evjen of Waterford, and Mike (Alissa) Haensgen of New Berlin; 19 grandchildren, Megan Kramer (fiancé, Kevin Hunter), Bethany Haensgen (fiancé, Tony Forster), Jessi (Ben) Rebro, Samantha Greuel (fiancé, Jake Starkey), Kaylie Greuel, Dylan Greuel (special friend, Mariah), Danielle (Andy) Rodriguez, Nick Rose (special friend, Kamber), Amanda Rose, Tyler (Rachel) Haensgen, Zachary Haensgen (special friend, Sage), Jacob Haensgen, Mackenzie Haensgen, Saydie Evjen (special friend, Colton), Kendall Evjen, Brycen Evjen, Colin Haensgen, Leah Haensgen, and Izzy Haensgen; 9 great-grandchildren, Allie, Cora, Kenley, Lexi, Carter, Alayna, Ella, Owen, and Kane; his brothers and sisters, Gerald (Mary) Haensgen of Oshkosh, Gordy Haensgen of Johnsburg, Katie (Dale) Schneider of Johnsburg, Tom (Deb) Haensgen of Mount Calvary, and Debbie (Dan) Halbach of Mount Calvary as well as nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Leander & Mary Agnes Haensgen; a great-grandson, Dominic Kramer; his brother, Lyle Haensgen; two sisters-in-law, Ginny Haensgen and Joanne Haensgen; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Clem & Vangie Karls.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Entombment will take place at Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Donny's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the church Thursday morning, May 11th from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM.

Donny's family expresses their heart-felt appreciation to the doctors and nurses at St. Agnes Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion given to him during his final days.
