Donald L. Holtz, age 74, of Forest Junction, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at his residence after fighting his battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his life, Carol, and his children.
Don was born on May 1, 1944 in Appleton, son of the late Lyle and Frieda (Schmidt) Holtz. He married Carol Richter on January 25, 1964. Don will be remembered as a God loving man, great husband, father, and grandfather to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also had a great sense of humor and always had a good come back that made everyone laugh. He worked most of this life at the Brillion Iron Works, Roehrborn Meats, and enjoyed the time he spent farming. In his later years when he no longer farmed, he began his hobby of collecting farm toys and creating many farm displays. He would actually build the buildings with great detail and accuracy for the ‘time’ in which he was replicating.
Don is survived by his wife, Carol; their children and spouses: Kurt (Linda) Holtz, Lori (Ken) Nushart, and Angela (Tim) Brey; grandchildren: Jake, Jeremy, and Josh Nushart, Dylan Holtz, and Leah and Lydia Brey; step-grandchildren: Lee Roehl, Travis (Heidi) Roehl; step-great-granddaughter: Jill Roehl; siblings: Betty (Roger) Brehmer, Dick (Joyce) Holtz; other in-laws: Glen (Sharon) Richter, Joan (Allen) Behnke, Ardyce (John) Svateck, Barb (Steve) Keltesch, great nephews who shared his passion of farming: Eli, Ethan, and Isaac Staudinger; other nieces and nephews; special friends: Chuck and Linda Roehrborn; other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law: Ruby (Mathes) Richter, father-in-law: Delmar Richter, one sister, Joann Steinbach-Burns, and one brother-in-law, Roger Brehmer.
Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Woodville. Officiating will be the Rev. Andrew Luehring. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
