Obituary

Donald "Doc" J. Jodar, age 81, of New Holstein, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton with his loving family by his side. Don was born March 7, 1935, in Plymouth; a son of the late Otto & Jennie (Boehnlein) Jodar. He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1953. He served in the Army in Korea from 1955 until 1957. On October 31, 1959, he married Mary Ann (Liebl) DeWolf in Green Bay. Don worked for GTE Telephone for 35 years. He retired in 1993. Doc was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the New Holstein Fire Department for 35 years; he held the office of Secretary/Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Brothertown Fishing Club. Don was a sports enthusiast; he loved the Green Bay Packers (holding season tickets since 1957). He would attend the high school football, basketball and baseball games. Doc enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it be attending their sporting events or going fishing and hunting with them. Don, along with his family, spent many hours camping and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; his three children, Jim (Deb) Jodar of New Holstein, Judy (Jim) LaPlant of Green Bay, and Jeff (Missy) Jodar of Dyckesville; 10 grandchildren, Kurt, Mike, Brett, CJ, Kendra, Abby, Ryan, Maria, Megan, and Rachel; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Reagan, Emory, Liam, and Lyla; his brother, Jerome (Donna) Jodar of Madison; and his sister-in-law, Marge (Robert) Smaglik of St. Peters, MO. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Otto & Jennie Jodar and his brother, Robert Jodar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Burial will take place in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may greet the family at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue New Holstein, WI on Tuesday, January 10th from 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM when brief rites will be held at the funeral home.
