Donald J. Kaiser, age 77, of Mount Calvary, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary following a battle with various cancers which began 15 years ago. He was born June 27, 1940, to the late Eugene & Nicella (Simon) Kaiser. Don attended Holy Cross Catholic Grade School and New Holstein High School. On June 15, 1963, he married Carol Mueller at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013. Don worked at Tecumseh Products for 42 years; he started out on the assembly line and finished his career as an inspector. Following his retirement in 2002, he worked part-time for Best Plumbing for several years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Mount Calvary Fire Department for 37 years; retiring as 2nd Assistant Chief. Don also volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Mobile and donated a total of 14 gallons of blood over many years. He served on the Board of Directors for Wisconsin American Mutual Insurance Company. Don was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary where he ushered and was a member of the St. Anthony Society, serving as treasurer for many years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and sturgeon spearing. After retirement, he enjoyed shelling hickory nuts, completing word search puzzles, playing sheepshead and cribbage and trips to the casino with his wife. Survivors include his wife, Carol; two daughters, his daughter, Linda (William) Sabel of Mount Calvary, and their children, Amanda Sabel (fiancée, Mitchell Freiberg) and Matthew Sabel; his daughter, Lori (Mark) McDowell of Belton, SC, and their daughter, Emily McDowell; his sisters, Ruth (Gene "Beno") Rusch of Brownsville and Joanne (Jerry) Burg of Mount Calvary; his brother, Michael (Rose) Kaiser of Mount Calvary; his sisters-in-law, Julia Kaiser of Mount Calvary, Lyla Kaiser of Mount Calvary, and Ruth (Merlin) Mueller of St. Peter; his brothers-in-law, Donald (Dorothy) Mueller of Sun City West, AZ and Leo (Mary) Mueller of Fond du Lac; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends. In addition to his parents, Eugene & Nicella Kaiser, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mae Catherine "Kate" (John) Halbach; three brothers, Gerald, Robert, and Richard Kaiser; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William & Estella Mueller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 27, 2017, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate with the assistance of Rev. Oliver Bambenek OFM Cap. Don will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Visitation: Family and friends may greet the family on Thursday, October 26th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079.
