Obituary

Donald H. Morgen, 85, of New Holstein died Friday, September 3, 2010, at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born June 23, 1925 in Mount Calvary to the late Leo & Rose (Goebel) Morgen. On December 26, 1950 he married Burnetta Koch in Elkhart Lake; she preceded him in death on January 29, 1974. On November 27, 1982 he married Mary Ann Ackerman Schilling; she preceded him in death on February 25, 2006. Don was a farmer in the Town of New Holstein until retiring when he was 70 years old. Don was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and a member of the New Holstein Kiwanis Club. He served 8 years on the Federal Farm & Home Loan Association. Don was secretary/treasurer for 2 years with the Dairy Herd Improvement Association of Calumet & Manitowoc County. He was a former 4-H Club Leader, had taught CCD at Holy Rosary and had run the gym program at Holy Rosary. He is survived by his children, Linda (Don) Hess of Neenah, David Morgen & Pat Olson of Maple Grove, MN, Keith (Pamela) Morgen of Madison, Paul (Kathie) Morgen of Wausau, Allan (Jennifer) Morgen of Plymouth, Scott (Victoria) Schilling of Fond du Lac and Michael Schilling of San Francisco, CA; 15 grandchildren, Emily & Katherine Hess, Samuel & Lucas Morgen, Anna, Mary Katherine, & Peter Morgen, Jessica, Christopher & Andrew Morgen, Danielle (David) Farr, Ryan, Erika, Isabelle, & Olivia Schilling; two sisters, Rosemary Sheridan of Fond du Lac and Joanne (Richard) Geiser of Belgium; his brother, Robert (Susan) Morgen of New Holstein; a sister-in-law, Ellen Morgen of Glendale and a brother-in-law, Leo Kolbe of Chilton. Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Burnetta; his second wife, Mary Ann; a brother, John Morgen and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Kolbe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue in New Holstein on Tuesday, September 7th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and at Holy Rosary Church Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. A memorial fund will be established in his name.
