Donald J. Rahmer, age 85, formerly of rural St. Cloud, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary.
He was born March 26, 1930, to the late Joseph Sr. & Irene (Buechel) Rahmer. Don graduated from New Holstein High School. He served in the Marines from October 22, 1951 to October 4, 1953.
On May 7, 1955, he married Virginia Schmitz at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Virginia preceded him in death earlier this year on January 14, 2015.
Don had worked at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until retiring.
Don is survived by his seven children, Paul (Cheryl) Rahmer of Fond du Lac, Robert (Denise) Rahmer of Fond du Lac, Steve (Karen) Rahmer of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Sheri) Rahmer of Montello, Ann (Ken) Meyers of Malone, Nancy (Russ) Heil of Oneida and Michael Rahmer (friend, Lori) of Mount Calvary; 12 grandchildren, Melissa (Dallas) Kissinger, Brian (Ashley) Rahmer, Shawn King, Nathan Rahmer, Nicole Rahmer, Randi (Jon) Emig, Katie (Dan) Kusilek, April (Tim) Miller, Zachary Meyers, Christopher Meyers, Miranda Rahmer and Marissa Rahmer; Seven great-grandchildren; Three brothers, John, James and Joseph Jr.; six sisters, Jean Resop, Doris (Joseph) Kapellen, Rita Lackas, Patricia (Joe) Simon, Carol (Richard) Laudoff and Margie (Jack) Bera. He is further survived by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph Sr. & Irene Rahmer; his wife, Virginia; a brother, George (Elsie) Rahmer; a sister, Rosemary (Ottie) Schneider and a brother-in-law, Alphonse Schmitz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Family and friends may call at the church in Mount Calvary Saturday morning, October 24th from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM.
Military Honors will be conducted at the church following the services.
