Donald H. Steiner, age 87, of New Holstein, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton from a brief heart issue.

He was born July 28, 1935, to Edwin & Mary (Muellenbach) Steiner. Don graduated from New Holstein High School in 1954. On October 24, 1959, he married Charlene Mischo at St. Cloud Catholic Church in St. Cloud; she preceded him in death on February 21, 2015.

Don had worked at M-B in New Holstein for approximately 18 years and then he and his wife owned & operated Don & Char's Triangle Bar in New Holstein until retiring in 2002.

Don was a true outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also was a baseball, basketball, and softball official. Don loved to watch and follow all Wisconsin sports teams.

Don was a retired member of the New Holstein Volunteer Fire Department. He was president for the New Holstein Pool League for many years. He spent many hours volunteering at the Outdoor's Inc; mowing the lawn, tending bar, grilled and cooked for members and fundraisers.

Survivors include his son, Steve (Janet) Steiner of New Holstein; his two grandchildren, Lisa (Chuck) Grosbier of Antioch, IL and John (Nicole) Peterson of Bloomington, MN; four great-grandchildren, Rayyan Grosbier, Tessa Grosbier, Noah Peterson, and Stella Peterson; a sister-in-law, Donna Sippel Entringer of St. Cloud; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin & Mary Steiner; his wife, Charlene; 2 brothers; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Don will be laid to rest next to his wife, Charlene, in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Charlesburg.

Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Monday, January 23rd from 3:00 PM until 6:15 PM.
