Obituary

Dorothy F. (Baganz) Freund, age 94, of rural Fond du Lac "Dotyville" passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

She was born December 15, 1930, in the Town of Forest to Alfred & Estella (Wettstein) Baganz. Dorothy attended St. Michael's Catholic School in Dotyville and graduated from St. Mary's Springs Academy in 1949.

On September 13, 1952, she married Harold E. Freund at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dotyville. Harold preceded her in death on February 3, 2021.

Dorothy was a bookkeeper at Boulay Brothers, Wettstein Agency, and also the bookkeeper and corporate officer at Ledgeview Precast Concrete Inc for 48 years, retiring in 2024. She also served as town clerk for the Town of Forest from 1983-1997.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site in Mount Calvary. Most importantly to Dorothy was, family and family get togethers as well as attending as many family activities as possible. She & Harold enjoyed traveling and together they traveled through out Canada & the USA visiting all but two states (Utah & Maine). She enjoyed her flowers and was most happy to have received the Fond du Lac County Beautification Award. Dorothy liked playing cards, reading, bowling, and an occasional casino trip.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Jean (Tom) Schneider of Waupun, Allen (Maureen "Bear") Freund of Fond du Lac, and Robert (Dawn) Freund of rural Fond du Lac "Dotyville"; her grandchildren, Rich (Jennifer) Schneider, Ron (Pam) Schneider, Joe (Jessica) Schneider, Sara (Jason) Immel, Mark (Renae) Freund, Lindsey (Russel) Schneider, Louis Freund, and Samantha Freund; her step-grandchildren, Ed (Courtney) Wagner and Andy (Sara) Wagner; her great-grandchildren, Ali, Lainee, Kailee, Abigail, Nicholas, & Erin Schneider, Oliver, Simon, and Wyatt Immel, Matthew, Bradley, Jacob, and Lillian Freund, and Leah & Lola Schneider; her step-great-grandchildren, Emily and Brandon Gumm and Evelyn & Johnathan Wagner; her step-great-great-grandchild, Evelyn Haase; two sisters-in-law, Bernadette (Leo) Grunke and Ione Baganz. Dorothy is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold; her parents, Alfred & Estella Baganz; her siblings, Rosemary (Norman) Kutz, Edward Baganz, and three infant siblings, Monica, Marie, and Norman; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Marcella (Ray) Woelfel, Marie (Jerome) Liebe, Irene (Art) Schlefke, Ervin (Gladys) Freund, Sgt. First Class Aloysius Freund MIA, Edna (Frank) Amrhein, Stella (Ted) Beaudreau, Francis Freund, and Norman Freund.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Fond du Lac at a later date.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Dorothy's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Saturday, March 8th from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM.

Memorials may be directed to the family for St. Jude's Children Hospital and Our Lady of the Holyland Parish.

Dorothy's family expresses their sincere appreciation to Fr. Paul and Sr. Jenada of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish and to the staff at SSM Healthcare Facilities for their compassionate care given to her.
