Obituary

Dorothy R. Schneider, age 85, of rural New Holstein "St. Anna" died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac following a short illness. She was born October 28, 1925 in the Town of Greenbush to the late Christ & Sophie (Gilles) Pickart. Dorothy attended grade school at St. Mary's in Marytown. On October 29, 1946, she married Melvin E. Schneider at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown. The couple farmed in the St. Anna area in the Town of New Holstein. Melvin preceded her in death on November 22, 2010. Dorothy was a member of St. Anna Catholic Church in St. Anna and its Christian Mother's Society and a member of Catholic Family Life. She loved gardening, singing, baking, and playing hostess to anyone that visited both family and friends. Survivors include her his six children, Diane (William) Greuel of Chilton "Charlesburg", Jim (Cindy) Schneider of Fond du Lac, Larry (Shirley) Schneider of Malone, Eugene (Kay) Schneider of St. Cloud, Jane (Dan) Twohig of St. Cloud "Armstrong" and Shirley (Dale) Wagner of Malone; 20 grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Alphonse (Ella Mae) Schneider of Malone, Frank (Ginny) Schneider of Chilton, and Edwin Koenigs of St. Peter; five sisters-in-law, Germaine (Gilbert) Mand of Mount Calvary, Marcelline Gundert of Fond du Lac, Dolores (Ronald) Reinl of New Holstein, Romilda (Donald) Schmitz of New Holstein, and Evelyn (Lou) Pavlicek of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Melvin; three sisters and their spouses, Leona Skipchak Dembowski and her first husband, Arthur Skipchak and her second husband, Steve Dembowski, Esther (Gilbert) Schneider and Frances (Francis) Schneider; a sister-in-law, Mildred Koenigs; and two brothers-in-law, Marvin Muellenbach and Ralph Gundert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. Anna Catholic Church N188 School Street New Holstein "St. Anna". Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Avenue in New Holstein on Friday, May 20th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:20 AM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Hospice Home of Hope for their compassionate care given to their mother during her brief illness..
