Earl W. DeSombre, 71, of New Holstein passed away on March 13, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his side. Earl was born on March 20, 1944 in Sheboygan WI, son of Earl F. and Ruth (Warner) DeSombre. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1962 and went on to earn his apprenticeship in carpentry. On August 8, 1964 he married Lynne Reseburg in Sheboygan WI. Earl had an entrepreneurial spirit which led him into many business ventures over the years. He began his career working in carpentry with his father, then created an excavation business of his own in Sheboygan. In 1978 he and Lynne established Pizza Village (now Village Inn) in New Holstein – at one time having four locations (New Holstein, Plymouth, Sheboygan and Kaukauna). When he had a vision there was no stopping him even though the idea may have seemed crazy to his family. He remodeled an old building and opened a bar in New Holstein, created a Par 3 golf course and planted hundreds of trees – creating a tree farm on his property in Elkhart Lake, remodeled the family cottage on Wilke Lake, and opened an ice cream shop in New Holstein. Earl enjoyed buying, restoring, and selling old cars. He was an avid fan of Mickey Mouse and enjoyed time spent at his vacation home in Montverde, Florida. On October 15, 2000 he married Mary (Coffeen) Cullen in Elkhart Lake WI. He is survived by his wife, Mary – one son E. Timothy (Jennifer) DeSombre of New Holstein, one daughter Kimberly (Stuart) DeSombre-Long of Kiel, one step-daughter Jessica Cullen (Chad Meyer) of Chilton, four grandchildren – Mitchell Long, Conner DeSombre, Natalee Long and Chloe DeSombre, his sister Sandralee Thiele of Darien. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law John Thiele, and his grandson Casey DeSombre. Following Earl's wishes cremation has taken place. A private burial service will follow. Memorials for Earl, may be directed to the family for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
