Edgar Arthur Klessig

Edgar Arthur Klessig, age 90, of Brillion died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. He was born on April 1, 1921 in the town of Rockland, son of the late Walter & Laura (Wunsch) Klessig. On June 11, 1944 he married Verona Stecker, daughter of George & Adela (Riemer) Stecker, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. He farmed in the town of Rantoul his entire life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul where he served as an elder; he served on the school board and building committees. He also sang in the Mens Choir. Edgar was a charter member of the Lake to Lake Co-op, and was a member of the Gideons International and the Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Verona, 5 dedicated sons, Lowell (Christine) Klessig of Amherst Junction, DuWayne (Sharon) Klessig of Chilton, Daniel (Judith) Klessig of Dryden NY, David (Rhonda) Klessig of Hilbert, Steve (Faye) Klessig of Brillion, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-law Orville Stecker and Wallace Zahn, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only brother Louis, and 3 sisters-in-law. Cordia Zahn, Rosie Stecker, and Arlene Stecker, and a brother-in-law Vernon Stecker. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. The Rev. Timothy Benninghoff will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Rantoul. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Edgars name. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
