Edmund "Ed" R. Konopka, age 89, of New Holstein, Passed away Tuesday morning, November 29, 2016, at the Atrium Post Acute Care Center in New Holstein. He was born March 28, 1927, in Chase Township in Oconto County to Stanley & Phyllis (Dziubla) Konopka. Ed graduated from Pulaski High School in 1945. He served in the Army. On June 26, 1954, he married the former Ronalda Woelfel at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. His wife preceded him in death on February 24, 2011. Ed worked as a mail carrier for the New Holstein Post Office until he retired on January 2, 1989. After retiring, he volunteered at the Salvatorian Mission Center in New Holstein. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and the Holy Name Society where he served as the treasurer for many years. Survivors include his four sons, Richard (Margaret) Konopka of Chicago, IL, Mike (Helen) Konopka of Lake Villa, IL, Tom Konopka of New Holstein and Jim Konopka of New Holstein; four grandchildren, Amanda (Pat) Ahern, Brian Konopka, Kathryn Konopka and her special friend, Nick Lillig and Emily Konopka and two brothers, Ted (Louise) Konopka of Sobieski, WI and Matt Konopka of Pulaski. He is further survived by his in-laws; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Stanley & Phyllis Konopka; his wife, Ronalda and two half brothers, Louie & Harry Konopka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Ed will be laid to rest next to his wife in the parish cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may call at Holy Rosary Church on Friday, December 2nd from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM.
