Obituary

Edwin "Eddie" A. Petrie, age 86, of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe" passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021, at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born October 7, 1935, in the Town of Marshfield in "St. Joe" to Claude & Leona (Ebertz) Petrie. Eddie attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in St. Joe and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1954. Eddie served in the Army from 1956-1959. On July 30, 1960, he married Kathleen "Kitty" Fuhrmann at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Eddie, along with his wife & family farmed on the Petrie homestead as well as working at Kohler Co. and Nigrelli in School Hill. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Joseph Church and the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478. Eddie proudly flew on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2019. Survivors include his wife, Kitty; his children, Jan (Glen) Hoople of Fond du Lac, Diane Petrie of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe", and Pat (Dan) Winkler of St. Cloud; his son-in-law, Pete Katze of Pardeeville; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Megan (fiancé, Aaron) and Kelsey Hoople, Stacy (Jacob) Lautenbach, Jenny Winkler, Sarah (Kyle) Preissner, Sam Draves, Adam Katze, and Skylar Petrie; a great-granddaughter, Nova Lautenbach; his brother, Roger (Nancy) Petrie of Plymouth; his sister-in-law, Jane Petrie of Fond du Lac; and his brothers-in-law, John Meyer of Utah and Bill (Carol) Fuhrmann of rural St. Cloud "St. Joe". He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude & Leona Petrie; his three children, Kris Katze, David Petrie, and Lynn Petrie; a grandson, Hunter Katze; a great-grandson, Maxwell Stahmann; his brothers & sister, Marvin (Dorothy) Petrie, Cecilia Meyer, Melvin (Rita) Petrie, and Ralph Petrie; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Walter & Cecilia Fuhrmann. A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Joseph Church in St. Joe (W620 County Road G, St. Cloud, WI 53079). Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military Rites conducted by State Military Honors & St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478 will take place at the church after the Mass. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Eddie's family at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud, WI 53079 on Wednesday, November 17th from 1:00 PM until 4:15 PM.
