Elaine (Koentopp) DeSmidt, age 81, of Kiel, passed away with her family at her side on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County.

She was born June 28, 1943, in Manawa, WI, to Norman & Virginia (Kutz) Koentopp. Elaine graduated from New Holstein in 1962. On August 7, 1965, she married Allen DeSmidt at Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein.

Early in their married life, Elaine & Allen operated the DeSmidt family farm in the Town of Mitchell in Sheboygan County. She also worked at the former Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein where she retired from. She occasionally did hair for family and friends.

Elaine is survived by her four children, Tammy (George) Pfeifer of Belgium, Cheri (Gerald) Kumrow of Adell, Jerry DeSmidt (Jake Hendzel) of Pulaski, and Amy (Jason) Sosinsky of Kiel; five grandchildren, George (Abbey) Pfeifer, Justin Pfeifer, Gary Kumrow, Parker Sosinsky, and Addison Sosinsky; two great grandchildren, George Pfeifer and Christopher Pfeifer. She is further survived by eight sisters; a brother; nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends.

Preceding her in death; a son, Glenn DeSmidt; her parents; foster parents; and a brother.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Nicole Herda will officiate. Burial will take place in Countryview Cemetery in the Town of New Holstein.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Elaine's family at the Sippel Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16th from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
