Eleanor C. Klotz, 89, of New Holstein, passed away with her family at her side on June 5, 2014.
The former Eleanor Woelfel was born March 1, 1925, in the Town of New Holstein; a daughter of the late Alex Sr. & Frances (Fessler) Woelfel.
She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1942. On June 10, 1947, she married Kenneth Klotz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.
In her early married years, Eleanor worked at the former Leverenz Shoe Co. and the Altona Supper Club; but mostly helped her husband operate the family farm near New Holstein.
Eleanor was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and the Christian Women's Society. She was a member of the New Holstein American Legion Auxiliary Post 124 for 53 years, where she was also with the Honor Guard. Eleanor was the Sunshine Committee Chairman for the senior citizen bowling league for 40 years.
Eleanor enjoyed making quilts for her family and doing crafts like making Christmas ornaments. She enjoyed canning, gardening, and crocheting (especially hangers). Eleanor and Ken played three games of cribbage each morning. They enjoyed belonging to the Melody Mixers Dance Club, playing canasta, and playing sheepshead.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, eight children, Kerry (Jeanne) Klotz of Chilton, James (Diane) Klotz of New Holstein, Kathleen (Carl) Plourde of Temple, NH, Robert (Janice) Klotz of New Holstein, Patricia (Jerome) Radey of Two Rivers, Sandra Weber and her fiance', Mike Roepke of Chilton, Daniel (Amy) Klotz of New Holstein, and Mary Jane Klotz of New Holstein; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret Halbach, Doris Turba, and Betty Petrie all of New Holstein and Delores Kampfer of Chilton; three sisters-in-law, Glady's Woelfel and Marlene Klotz of New Holstein, and Betty Woelfel of Florida; and a brother-in-law, Allen (Rita) Klotz of New Holstein.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Alex Sr. & Frances Woelfel; three grandchildren, Andrea Klotz, Melissa Klotz, and Bradley Klotz; a great-grandchild, James Klotz; four brothers, Paul (Olga) Woelfel, Clarence (Shirley) Woelfel, Alex Woelfel Jr., and Donald Woelfel; her sister-in-law, Alice Jane Woelfel; five brothers-in-law, LaVerne Halbach, Robert Turba, Lloyd Petrie, Jerome Kampfer, and Earl Klotz; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edmund & Meta Klotz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the church Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM when brief rites will be held.
